Mission at Christ Church

In the gospel of Matthew Jesus gives the following clear instructions, often called ‘The Great Commission’ and its accompanying promise:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28: 19-20)

There is a strong and well established desire at Christ Church to see the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed boldly yet lovingly in both word and deed.

The Church of the Good Samaritan- Setubal Portugal

Over ten years ago God brought together the leaders of The Church of the Good Samaritan in Setubal, Portugal, and Christ Church Matchborough. The bond they formed developed and they offer each other prayer and mutual support in many forms. During the last ten years we have been able to host members of the church in Setubal for a shared conference, and offer boys from an orphanage they are linked to, a holiday with our young people. Our teenagers have made three trips to Portugal; learning to serve some of the homeless and destitute people in their community and evangelising through drama and dance.

A valuable link has developed between local government officials and the police in the two towns as the local politicians have seen the impact the churches have made in responding to the issues in their communities.
