Trade Justice

Trade Justice

The group which currently consists of Lesley Barcham, Felicity Melley, Heather Berry and John Legge meet every couple of months to explore ways of acting out the Christian faith linked to social justice and Fairtrade.

Activities during the last 12 months in 2012 have included

  • Christian Aid’s Quiz Aid, which 65 people attended, raising over £140. This year the prize was kindly donated by Avoncroft Museum of buildings.
  • Fairtrade Christmas coffee morning and craft/produce stall with a talk on India by Mr Chris Collins, a Methodist trainee minister.
  • “In 3D” concert in May with Paul Douglas and Band raising over £200 for Christian Aid
  • A celebration of Fairtrade Fortnight in February and early March
  • Christian Aid Week street collecting which raised £710.28
  • Discussions of world events/marches/initiatives
  • Services linked to various Christian social issues themes

In 2013 we held  an event at church during Christian Aid Week including  a cheese lunch, and plant and cake stalls. This raised over £440

We also help to arrange the communal Christmas card signed as an alternative to individual ones handed out. There are other events which are supported locally with Redditch Town Centre Trade Justice Group and also nationally which we sometimes attend.

Once again new members of the group are most welcome. Please contact John Legge/Lesley Barcham or the Church Office for further details.
